there's something that never bothered me, once i figured out why i seemed to
be reading the story backward :) i can read in prett much any direction,
since i learned hebrew and english reading at the same time. also, as a kid
i read enough mysteries with the solution in mirror text to read english
backwards pretty well. and if three or more people want to read the same
picture book at the same time, it helps to be able to read upside down.
(does anyone remember the reading game 'spaghetti and meatballs', where any
word starting with s or m is swapped out?)

when, after i got the hang of this whole writing in pen instead of pencil, i
noticed that most dittos the teacher gave out had lovely big margins, i
learned to write and therefore read from up to down, as well. for a short
while i wrote one column top-bottom and teh next bottom-top, but that got
too confusing. :)
