i think slash and romance might raise unrealistic expectation, but so does
going to the grocery store to buy bread! when a guy is standing on line
waiting to pay for completely mundane things, there is a magazine rack full
of covers with bikini-clad women, often with her thumb in her waistband,
with a clear implication that -women are available! come and get it!-

a woman has to go to the effort of reading a story to make the men
'available'. a guy doesn't have to do more than walk past an advertisement.
and as a woman, those same adverts give me the message that -i- ought to be
alluring and available, or something is wrong with me.
talk about unrealistic expectations!

so anyone who things that romance/slash gives women unrealistic ideas about
men... complaining to the wrong place.

ziviya, who just finished fumbling an explanation to a six year old: -why-
is that lady on the magazine taking off her underwear in a picture? on the
front page of a magazine? feh.
