I am actualy a bit south of the border (new england0 but sicne my
te=ates run to both british and japanese things I have a region free
player so I can buy dvd's from wherever :-)

Well, CBC will have Torchwood, it's a joint production. So if you live 
near the border, you're set. And the DVDs will doubtless be sold in 
Canada sometime.
