i don't get digest form, but i also don't read the mail every minute.  i 
have noticed that some people like me, seem to read and then post in clumps. 
you'll see their name repeat down the list (or digest) five or six times. 
other people seem to be carrying on almost instant conversations, with lots 
of back and forth.  you'll see their names interspersed with other names.

sometimes i'll post answers as i read, but sometimes, like jean, i'll read 
the whole thread and see all my answers already posted.  sometimes twice. 
so why bother?  or i'll see that the thread has deteriorated and/or changed 
beyond recognition, so why bring up old stuff?  old being 12 hours ago, 
sometimes.   or i'll decide, occasionally, that the topic is interesting 
enough, at least to me, that i want it to go on, so i'll post anyhow, maybe 
under another subjuct line so people will look at it again.
