Lets look at this a different way
The current fractions are:
                    Population   Land Area
Africa:             13.1%        20%
Asia:               60.6         29
New World           13.8         28
Europe:             12.0          7
Oceana:              0.5          6

I take it back: Oceana doesn't lack for land, it lacks for people. Of 
course a large fraction is Australia, which is to a first approximation 
uninhabitable.

I notice that half a thousand years after the Old World encountered the 
New, the New is still horrible underpopulated.
