happy winter solstice!
so, what popular gift item would grandma cordelia give her darling
grand-babies and/or friend's children? grand-toddlers? kids? teens?
babies: tactile toys. what kind of educational things will they have for
the proles who want get ahead?
for the younger kids, a junior toolset (made of plastic) seems to be an
enduring favorite. also toy trucks, planes, etc. alternately, dolls and
their endless accessories. will grandma cordy give alternate gifts based on
gender? soemhow i think not. will miles freak out if his son wants to
spend 1/2 hour brushing a doll's hair and dressing it for the emporer's
birthday ball?
do not forget the wonders of a big, empty box. pirates, anyone? or
star-cruise lines, captain helen natalie speaking? or monorail, etc etc.
somehow i don't think mile's kids will get bored easily in games 'limited
only by imagination'.
my four year old adores two rubber bands knotted together, then looped over
his hands so he can clap and pull his hands apart under tension. it keeps
him busy while waiting on line. do they have rubber bands in those days?
older kids: things to gross out adults. ham radio equivilent. chemistry
set. (especially w/dr. boros in the house, yeesh!) games needing some
basic strategy. how old were -you- when someone tried to explain chess
moves? what kind of 'needs imagination' games will there be?
teens: a gift card to the mall. 'truth or dare' type games. i haven't
bought for teens lately, does anyone have other ideas?
any other ideas?
ziviya, finally cleaned up all the wrapping paper, cardboard packaging,
plastic packaging, little wire bits of packaging, styrofoam packaging, and
broken toys pieces (already, yes)
