The first thing I ever read in Japanese from start to finish was
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon manga, all 18 volumes--I started
reading halfway through the series and would wait anxiously every
month for the magazine, Nakayoshi, that it was serialised in, and
then picked up each of the collected volumes as it came out.
I love those books, and unfortunately the English translations
I've seen don't do them justice. (The animated television series
doesn't either, though I enjoy watching it. The English dub of
the animated television series is a butchery and an ab0rtion,
though I am grateful that it brought a vast influx of females
back into fandom as a whole.)
What's the first book you ever read from start to finish in a
language that wasn't your first?
