[LMB] (Chat) Foxes!

Since we're suckers for abandoned dogs dropped off on our country road,
wildlife tends to give our place a wide berth. Eight dogs are too much
for most things! We do get squirrels, which just drive the dogs wild.
But I see armadillos (usually dead), possums (ditto), skunks (very
ditto), deer, rabbits, roadrunners, hawks, and scissortail flycatchers
on my way to work. And hear coyotes most nights. The pygmy rattlesnakes
in the pool aren't quite as appealing!

We've currently got:
Rabbits (down by Dow's Lake)
Racoons (everywhere)
Occupant The Skunk (under the front porch. I wish the neighbourhood cats
would learn to give her a wide berth, but the skunk herself is quite a
good tenant. I shall teach her to spray the people who ignore the large
sign asking for no junk mail and afflict me with pizza flyers.)
And lots and lots and lots of pigeons.
My sister's out in the BC interior and tells me that Rossland has a bear
this year, but it seems to be a rather philosophical and timid black
bear, so aside from not leaving pets out at night and being cautious
about going into the salmonberry patches, they're leaving it be.
No foxes, though, alas. Foxes would be lovely.
Marna.
