Now see, this just illustrates your point about mixed feelings:  since I
don't keep chickens or pets, I keep *hoping* for a few, to manage the
squirrel and groundhog populations:)  Out where my mom lives, small dogs
can't be left unattended as the coyotes consider them a tasty snack.  So
far as I know it's not that serious here, though in fact, I'm guessing
we do have 'em, since the neighbor has spotted deer in the yard;  and
I've found bits of groundhog tails and what not around the shed in past
years.  At the height of summer the damage isn't as much of a problem.
But I remain firm:  no raccoons under the house, and no groundhogs under
the shed.
