It doesn't, unless you are willing to take the parallels between 
Iselle/Isabella of Castile and Audar/Charlemagne as a given, which is a 
Doylist approach.

As usual with LMB, since each book has enough background to carry the 
story and not one whit more, it is difficult to get any certain proof 
from the text...
