I think where I was heading is: what shape do you think the souls of Ingrey
and Ijada are?

*** This is a lovely question. I look forward to various answers.

For my own part, I would point out that while Caz's role was to be a
saint, Ingrey's role was to be a king; two very different spiritual
callings. So technically, really, Ingrey passed out of the realm of the
Son and into the realm of the Father at the climax, which is the proper
order of things; the honorific "Sire" is psychologically resonant for a
whole lot of good reasons. I'd also point out the line in the scene
where I & I meet the Son at Boleso's funeral, where Ingrey senses,
correctly, that Ijada may be experiencing more of the god than he can --
a "pinhole" versus "the orb entire", although the latter is certainly an
envious exaggeration. Different people see the gods differently (or the
same people see differently at different times) because the experience
is always filtered through the shape of their own "windows", so to speak.

We lack Ijada's viewpoint for a direct comparison, alas. It has to be
inferred -- through Ingrey, which has its own perils. But one can tell
a lot about the shape of a person by how they process the world around
them, if anyone is looking for clues or supporting evidence.

Ta, L.
