I ran across a reference to a Victorian version of "All Knowledge is
Contained on the List" from 19th Century England. It was a weekly called
"Notes and Queries." People sent in questions - such as an 1862 reader with
the intriguing nom of "Chromophone" wanting to know if anything had ever
been published on the analogy between colors and musical sounds. (It had, in
1817). All kinds of questions, no matter how strange - and readers
apparently had answers for almost all of them.
