At the Readercon he was GoH at, Sunday afternoon I was trying to get water 
of out a water container on a table in front of a ballroom and was trying to 
tilt the container (it was hot out and it was almost empty.  Harlan came 
over and tilted it up for me without me asking for assistance or me having 
noticed he was present, until suddenly he was there assisting.
