on a related note, a (for me) remarkable litle interview with a woman 
from the Phillipines who was invited to Amsterdam for a crafts project. 
She was asked how she liked Amsterdam and the Netherlands, her rply "oh 
very much, the air smells so clean here!"

I would never have described Amsterdam air as especially clean smelling. 
(But with reasonably strict regulations as to exhaust pipes and stuff 
like  that and a small city to boot, I can imagine it is cleaner than a 
million dweller city with  way less regulations (I'd guess))
