Victoria, again: 
I can't quite picture what you're describing. We didn't clasp our hands at all. Gunny focused on striking, grabbing, or twisting various body parts. Gunny didn't teach us any strikes to the genetalia area because he didn't bring protective gear. He took enough abuse on his arms alone. 

Kathy: "Is this the right one?" (Probes on his forearm)
Gunny: "Yes, ma'am." (taps his chest with the other hand)
Kathy: (still probing) "Are you sure?" 
Gunny: (taps his chest again)
Me: "Kathy, he's tapping out." 
Kathy: "What's that?" 
Me: "You're hurting him." 
Kathy: "Oh!" (Snatches hand away. Then pets the man twice her size on the upper arm.) "I'm sorry! What's that other nerve again?"
