The truth behind NGE is very very weird indeed. A mixture of new ideas, 
acute lack of money, unexpected sources of scripts, and a director with an 
Agenda. I'm not going to clutter the list with an explanation of the series 
(that is, how it got so weird) unless I am directly asked to post about the 
influences...
