I was a SMOF. I've even been to SMOFcon, but now I've GAFIAted from  
SMOFdom, and unfortunately been FAFIAted from most cons by lack of  
time and money. Tip to the wise, don't ever buy a house that you can  
barely afford.

GAFIA, "Getting Away From It All", fannish term used as a verb for  
leaving fandom.

FAFIA, "Force Away From It All", fannish term used as a verb for  
leaving fandom against your will, typically due to health, time, or  
money.
