Well, the real point of my question was the point about the Russians
perhaps not having the same attitude towards preserving privacy as
Americans, and possibly abusing their position as administrators to
seriously data mine the collective LiveJournal journals for personal
info. But the point may be moot, if censorship was such a big issue.
In order to censor, somebody has to monitor what is being written, so,
there may not have been that much expectation of privacy to begin with.
But I wondered if that bothered anyone.
