I would.  And you know me well enough to know it.  I aten't
nobody, Twin.  (I am kinda offended, actually, to think that you
think this about me, but I'm going to go out on a limb bere and
assume you were generalising.)

For all that I have loved some magnificent dratsabs, up to and
including Jim Profit, the ones I adore are all AWARE of the
damage they do, at least to some degree.

The thing I can't bear about Elli is that she doesn't NOTICE.

And I do NOT think fandom would tolerate her if she were a man
and had treated Ethana, from a planet where there were no men,
like that.  The outcry would if anything be worse.

Also, she's tacky, and tacky knows no gender.

She's a very well-constructed character, and I have never said
that Lois didn't write her well.  I just don't LIKE her.  The
books would not be as good as they are if I liked every single
one of the characters; they wouldn't be 'real'.
