Obviously I'm with you.  With the greatest respect possible to
Lois (and somewhat less respect to certain others I could name)
I'm really not interested in the author while I'm actively
reading a book.  In fact the story is much, much less interesting
to me if I am forced constantly to remember that it's all made up
foolishness and not really happening somewhere, somewhen that's
not now.  So I will always judge characters on their actions
within the story and not what I think the author may have been
trying to deal with at the time of writing.

If you think people find this annoying in LMB fandom, avoid HP
fandom assiduously.  How dare you judge Rowling's character's by
any standards of your own?  They are good or evil on her say-so!
