and yet, at that time of her life, running away from miles is the best thing
for elena. seh hasn't finished growing up yet. attatching herself to miles
in her teens would have given her some form of 'great-man's-son' disease.
all her growth would be with him or in opposition to him, but her personal
growth would not be independent of her hyperactive other half.
didn't ekaterin say, in different words, 'if we had met ten years ago, i
wouln't have looked twice at you.'
they are on different life paths. to quote miles - timing is everything.
what if miles had never proposed on barrayar, and waited until elena was
settled as a soldier? a first proposal then might have gotten a differetn
answer. she married a soldier, after all.
