I've always thought that the woman was one of the Koudelka daughters,
because they are tall.  The man could be Ivan...


***  It was supposed to be Gregor & Laisa.  But either the artist or Jim 
Baen or both refused to paint Laisa plump, or in any other way 
resembling her book self.  The male figure isn't all that Gregorish, either.

Ivan and one of the Koudelkas makes and interesting alternate scenario, 
true.
