Alayne linked to a discussion of the way the internet has
changed the author/reader relationship.
I think, what with fanzines and cons, the relationship of
many (by no means all) SF writers to their readers has
always had something of this two-way character. Admittedly,
on-line discussions can easily pass the boundaries of
what would be acceptable face-to-face behaviour. Lois
doesn't get that kind of treatment here, but some other writers
(e.g., on teenage English wizards or talking "horses") get
handled pretty roughly at times.
