This is a little throw away note so you know I *am* alive, and
am sitting here groaning at what just happened as I was listing
the radio a minute ago. There's a show on the local public
radio station on Sunday evenings called "Country Roots" that I
don't particularly like cause the mix has stuff I don't mind
mixed with some stuff that really set my teeth on edge, but I
let drone on in the background while I work on the computer
because if I change stations or put on a CD I'll forget to
change back in time for "Thistle and Shamrock" which I utterly adore.
So.... I'm sitting here ignoring the bluegrass music when my
head pops up at a familiar tune. A tune that's *not* bluegrass,
but does fit with the styling. If I wasn't extremely familiar
with the piece, I might have thought it was actually a
historical piece of bluegrass music. It's a piece written in
1982 called "Ashokan Farewell"
http://www.jayandmolly.com/ashokanfaq.shtml, and a lot of folks
have heard it as background music for Ken Burns documentary "The
Civil War".
So..., in the first few measures as I'm shifting gears mentally
the name of the piece comes up *almost* right. So I Know I Have
Been Reading Too Much Harry Potter When I recognize it as:
"Azkaban Farewell"
