LOL! Maybe he can teach by example, then ; )

Will they do the Princess Leia thing, and be the ones to come up with the
escape plan when their rescuer proves to have not thought that far ahead ; )

*shrugs* It's the kind of thing *I* think about. In my brain, marriage
really isn't the default.

If they got married, I suppose it probably would be for a practical reason
like that. It might depend on how Betan a couple they are, since Mark is, in
effect, multicultural and more Jacksonian than Barrayaran in a lot of ways;
though Kareen might *choose* to do something very *Barrayaran*, to hold onto
her roots, make her parents happy, etc. And the Barrayaran marriage ceremony
is pretty egalitarian, so there's not much for a Betan-influenced member of
the younger generation to chafe at.

Agreed! He can't trust himself very much. I wonder what he's like around his
niece and nephew ...
He'd make a good curmudgeonly uncle who gives cash on birthdays. And when I
say curmudgeonly, I'm thinking of Ekaterin's first impressin of him.

I wonder if Nicki actually is in the line to inherit the Countship. I mean,
in a pinch, maybe, but not with half-sibs and Mark and Ivan, assuming
nothing Mad Yuri-esque happens again.
