dr. b. doesn't need a -wife-.  he needs a -keeper-.  if he could get a 
really trustworthy business manager, and a bullying sort of 
housekeeper/valet: sir, your new clothes are ready for you.  and don't you 
think you should have a bath first, sir? :)    then the man wouln't, as you 
put it, need a wife!

picking up after dr borgos might be financially rewarding, but there are 
lots of galactics who think women on barrayar are under-using thier 
potential, and many of them likely remember to look both ways before 
crossing the street - which mark asked kareen to do , as i recall.  surely 
martya can do better, once she has the idea of non-barayar men being 
potential mates?
