Thank you all for the interesting and well thought out responses to 
this. Yes, I can see all of your points. As with everything in life, 
it's a question of weighing costs and benefits, I guess. As a person who 
grew up in Canada, I find non-socialized health care very scary, but I 
assume if you grow up with that, it seems normal and much less daunting, 
whereas other things that don't bother me might seem more of an obstacle 
to non-Canadians.

And yes, I can definitely understand the ties of home and family. We 
moved to California in '93 and lived there for four years, but then the 
pull of home and grandparents to our kids was too strong and we moved 
back to Montreal.
