I think I may have a convert. More or less.
I had one of my adult nephew's names for last (2005) christmas [1], so
being the subversive aunt that I am, I gave him TCoC as part of his
loot. While that particular nephew likes SF/F, he also has a reading
disability [2], so I wasn't surprised when he told me, this (2006)
christmas he finally got around to reading that book I gave him.
He liked it, even if the language was "a little long in the tooth." [3]
The plot had him by the throat and wouldn't let him put it down. He may
not rush right out to buy more, but he seemed interested in my synopsis
of TSK. I'm pretty sure, he'll get around to buying it. Sooner or later.

[1] my family draws name. We have 32 people in the immediate family, so
it makes things easier.
[2] He's a "Volunary Reader" too. "It" by Stephen King convinced him
that the effort was worth the payoff. He had seen the TV movie and
wanted to know why his brothers and friends ran it down. Until then, you
had to force the boy to read.
[3] his words, not mine. Oddly enough, he reads Pratchett for the
language and retains none of the plot when done. He also reads The
Classics [4] because "they're Classic for a reason so I guess I'd better
find out why."
[4] as in "A Canon of Great Works Written By Dead White Men"
