Pat Mathews advises us that:-
>Amazon.com does have "Legacy" available for pre-order,
>to be delivered in July.
And that she has pre-ordered. So have I.
BUT
If you pre-order this far ahead it does Lois some good
because Amazon (or whoever you pre-order from) orders
some more, and the print run may be increased, and the
first week's sales are more likely to make the New York
Times.
But for some reason that Amazon (despite several prompts)
will not explain the order will not be filled until all
the orders placed around the publication date have been
shipped, leading to delays of up to a month.
...
It's a bit more work, but for Herself's sake I suggest that
we all order now, but cancel and re-order a few days before
the publication/release date.
James - the devious
*** I do wish folks would not try to game the system in this kludgy
way. Honest pre-orders are fine.
Granted, Amazon's system seems screwy.
Be it noted, pre-orders through your favorite or most convenient
brick-and-mortar bookstore are even better than Amazon orders, although
Amazon covers the gap for those who are underserved because they lack
good local bookstores. But if you are going to mail-order anyway, do
remember Dreamhaven and Uncle Hugo's, where you can even get your copies
signed.
Ultimately, if the books don't sell themselves, through word of mouth
(and e-mouth) and pleasing readers, all this promotional kerfluffle is
in vain.
