I feel exactly the same way.  I didn't finish the books (after having gotten 
as far as the Ents in high school before giving up) until after I saw the 
movies, and then only because I used them as my treadmill books for several 
months until I got all the way through them (it took a while at half an hour 
three times a week).  Now I can say I've done it, and I probably won't ever 
do it again.  The movies, OTOH...

I have to agree with Rachel about The Princess Bride, too.  Book, completely 
unreadable (I think I made it about fifty pages in), movie, sublime, one of 
my alltime favorites.

who also agrees with Jacki that anything with Kenneth Branagh in it is well 
worthwhile -- I wish he'd do something new that would show up in a theater 
nearer than Seattle -- or London
