If you'll recall from tWA, Miles just gave her the money for a first-class  
job and ran, because his father was in trouble on Barrayar.  Elli must have  
chosen her own face, with added enhancements.  She was still recognizable  as 
Elli, but beautiful instead of just pleasantly pretty.
