Darting off on a side-issue, Baen ebooks in rtf and other formats should
not contain smart aka curly quotes. I have just checked 1634: The Baltic
War which uses only '"' but does have mdashes '—'.

So if you see them it is because MS Word has been putting them in and I
suggest that you use WordPad instead or fix Word's !*!*!* autocorrect.

B1. In Word, with a document open (you can't do it without a document open
- even a new empty one will do)
B2. Tool -> Autocorrect Options -> Autocorrect Tab
