This is probably because another format they offer basically consists
of those HTML files sitting (or not) within a handy frameset. This way
they get to keep the different formats consistent...or at least one
sincerely hopes they do.

That said, I have wondered about whether there might be mileage in the
TiddlyWiki format[1], or maybe something like the current frameset
approach but using a single HTML file and CSS for switching. I suppose
it all depends on whether you like loading up more than a megabyte of
HTML any time you want to read your book...
