My granddad is William, but always called Jim.

...actually, his middle name might be James.  Which is better than that
other family middle name of Jeffcoat, which both of his brothers got.

Ah, middle names.  I'm fairly sure there's a something New Zealand Bardsley
on the family tree somewhere.
