I made the mistake of typing three ###s as a divider between sections in a document, and when I did, Word created this big thick line instead of just leaving my three ###s like I wanted. How do I get rid of this big thick line and what can I use in the way of a symbol in this manner that will stay the way I typed it without my having to backspace immediately? (I use an Alphasmart which is basically a portable keyboard emulator -- stopping in the middle of an upload to backspace is not an option) Asterisks are booby-trapped the same way, only with a different kind of line. I'm way past the point where I can backspace right after they've been typed. No form of deleting and/or cutting is making it go away.

You have created a border.
Open the formattiing palette. Select the paragraph. Open the "Borders
and Shading" triangle. Change the type of the border to blank. And you
should be done.
In the future, remember: control-Z is your friend!
