Yes. I, personally, have to beat every version of Word into submission
whenever I have a new one. (This provides a huge disincentive to upgrade,
so I don't intend to do so anymore.) I don't mind if it fixes my typos,
but I do have to turn everything else off. And since I also turn off
smartquotes, I must then go and fix every autocorrrect-listed word that
has an apostrophe in it, because otherwise it will use a smartquote version
and not a straight version.
Word can be very useful, but the way they load the defaults? It only becomes
useful once it has been beaten down and told to call me "Mistress."
