I was curious about this, too. This woman may have been half-blood, but she
clearly was raised around Lakewalkers, or at least *a* Lakewalker (LW
hereafter; I am really tired tonight!)

We know that LW/Farmer liaisons happen. It isn't surprising, given how much
contact the two groups have when LWs are out on patrol. People are people,
after all, and a lot of Patrollers are in their late teens/early adulthood,
precisely when, um, s*x is a big drive. It's common enough that LWs even
have a slang term for having s*x with a Farmer woman: "dipping his wick in
the strange."

A man can "hit and run," but what happens when a LW woman gets pregnant by a
Farmer man? Yes, she would be aware of when she's fertile, but people do
get carried away, and there's always beer available to be blamed :) We
don't know for sure, but I'd assume that midwives in both societies have,
um, "herbs for regulating the monthly cycle" ... but not everyone will want
to use them.

So I think that half-blood woman at TriPoint must have a LW mother, who
taught her a thing or two about s*x. I'd assume that a LW woman who got
pregnant by a Farmer would be thrown out of the LW tribe, but she'd still
have her knowledge to pass on to her daughter. And the Farmers wouldn't
take in a LW woman... so no wonder the half-blood woman is "outside" both
societies....
