before the pr folks can get to work, they need to know the exact nature of
the problem. and it seems the problem has -chagned- this last generation.
last book, fawn's brothers wanted to break out new land. this book, we
found out hwat happened when new land was broken down: at first the
lakewalkers tried to kick them out, but they just kept coming and coming.
breed like rabbits, the farmers do, and they don't die off on patrol, or be
unable to make babies bec one or both partners are on patrol. there's no
keeping htem out!
so there's a new twist to the old problem, and the lakewalkers can't see the
forest for the trees. or lack of trees, when the malice is through with a
place. it takes a sharp change to make someone stop and re-assess, and no
one is willing to do that, from lack of time, energy, culteral willingness.
when dag finished healing enough to get antsy lying about in his boat, i
suspect he'll go back to a council - not necessarily where his mother and
brother are waiting to steal his hard-earned pay - and ask pointed
questions.
tent bluefield will be true to its traditions, even if those traditiosn are
not a year old yet :)
