LeGuin's Hainish universe.
"off planet to retrieve" was Rocannon's World which was expanded from the
short Semely's Necklace.
It's a fine example of what a SF novel should be from the days before they
became doorstops, it's 118 pages ! LeGuin invented the ansible which
appears here for the first time.
Planet of Exile is all on planet. No ship has come for six hundred years
and the colony is dwindling. Can they and the navtive humanoids accept that
survival means both must change ?
The Dispossessed is the "Day after the Revolution" world with the
anarchists who are exiled to the moon and where the maths for the ansible
was developed.
