I totally agree with that and the rest that I've snipped as well.
Actually, I think the point Pat made is key -- the society in which
Fawn grew up is not the kind that prizes innovation. The Lakewalkers
may more, but I'm not sure about that either. The entire world tends
to be more conservative and hide-bound, I think, than flexible.
The part where Aunt Nattie uses Dag's eyes to see Fawn is very
telling. Makes you wonder why all the Lakewalkers aren't more
enchanted with her if it's her ground that's so appealing. Or maybe
Dag is more open to the innovation and exuberance of youth he sees in
her.
