Yes.
Much as I love reading fantasy, the Vorkosigan novels
mean something special to me, and the Bujold fantasies
don't. With the possible exception of TKF:
Beguilement.
Uh... no, not even with Beguilement, now I think of
it. It isn't the setting or the plot I love in
Beguilement, it's Dag and Fawn. And Fawn's family.
I would have been somewhat happier if there had been
no Malice, and it had all been a romance set in the
19th century.
Fantasy authors I love are Ellen Kushner, Patricia
McKillip, Ursula LeGuin, Megan Whalen Turner, Guy
Gavriel Kay, Elizabeth Lynn, Homer, Shakespeare, and
whoever wrote Grendel. I'm no doubt leaving out other
favourites.
Hard to put my finger on it, but the thing I most love
about Bujold's SF is not present in her fantasies. The
sense of unfolding surprise, perhaps?
