when I was but a youth, I was most disgruntled at being born a girl for precisely that reason.
When you're a kid, you think the things you are exposed to are laws of nature. I once told my older cousin that I didn't *want* to grow up, because then I would have to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee. Imagine my surprise when she told me I wasn't required to do those things! Her statement opened a whole new world to me, giving me a freedom and strength I would never have though possible.
