It should be "if the average American _buys_ etc" but yeah, that's
the right number for the US and Canada.
Your average mid-list book might get seen by 1/500th the number of
people whose numbers were not sufficient to keep FIREFLY on the air. In
fact, more people attend the average Denver Broncos game than pick up the
average non-best seller book (I think it's about four times as many).
