Not to mention a fire risk. I can't see any sensible starship captain
wanting a hold full of something that's just waiting to catch fire.

Wonder what effect storing wood in a vacuum would have. You could drag
it along behind you, not really taking up any space.

Of course if the Vorkosiverse ships have reaction engines that's a bad
idea... all you'd arrive with is charcoal.
