Kly "the mail" wasn't it?
I prefer this category as well... coming up with characters I loathe,
love is never easy.
Let's see... my list, in no real order
1. Ezar Vorbarra
He's just so complex. He's totally ruthless, yet also completely
dedicated to a goal that's almost at complete odds with his own
ruthlessness. He wants stability, order and peace... and he goes about
getting it by scheming, plotting and murdering. He's the type of
person you want to keep frozen and "break seal in case of emergency".
2. The Living Rug, in so much as you can call it a character. I
thought it was totally wonderful.
3. That insane psychiatrist that's bullying Cordellia in Shards. If I
ever need cheering up, I imagine a scene on Beta colony where Lady
Vorkosigan (with Bothari in tow) meets this woman in the street. The
Shrink tries to get her arrested... and comedy and comeuppances ensue.
(Just a shame betan security would have
4. The Professor and Professora. Love them. Really wish I had people
like that in my life.
5. Duv Galeni.
I see Duv very much as another Miles. Born with lots of disadvantages
and still manages to succeed. Son of terrorist, born with the wrong
nationality (as it were) always the outsider. No matter what he tries
to achieve those things will always hang over him, and what does he
do? Go into the one job where those things are guaranteed to cause a
problem and still he succeeds. Not only that, he makes friends at the
highest level and gets the girl as well.
Regards,
Martin
