I know I'm going to be very unpopular for saying this, but to be brutally
honest, I think that part of the problem is that the first SK book simply
isn't as engaging as the rest of LMB's books, and we've run out of things to
say.
Back on topic :), I personally prefer Miles' universe to Lois' fantasy

I don't think it has to do with a break down of scifi vs. fantasy. My favs
are equally divided between both, I love the first 2 Chalion books, I love
equally the Cordelia novels, and I'd hate to try and choose a fav Miles
book! The very first LMB book I read, The Memory Ring, addicted me to her
books forever.

I disagree. I liked TSK:B much better than the first 2 Chalion books. The third Chalion book, I liked very much; enough that I will re-read the other two after I've pared down my reading pile somewhat. The Spirit Ring (not Memory Ring) was my first Bujold; I'm currently working on Women at War, which she edited. I belive my Bujoldian collection is now complete.
Winterfair Gifts managed to calm my Vorkosiverse addiction a bit, but need more, more, more!
