As did I.  DId you read "Children of God"?   It's a
direct sequel to "The Sparrow", with (largely) the
same characters and setting.  Not the Vatican, the
alien planet.

Really? I loved it even more. There were so many
characters it was maybe a little confusing sometimes,
but I couldn't put it down.  One of the good things
about "The Sparrow" was the focus on Emilio as the
protagonist.
