My little sister was stunningly beautiful as a young child. I remember
that people would stop to look at her when we went somewhere.

She also was brilliant and creative. When she became an adult that
extraordinary beauty faded into a more normal "good looking" yet the
personality qualities remain.

She recently found out that her big eyes - part of that childhood
beauty - are the result of Stickler's Syndrome, a genetic connective
tissue disorder.

I find my almost 15 year old son beautiful. I sometimes wonder how
much it is because I am his mother, and how much it is because his
features are well-shaped. He tends to be more conceited about his
intellectual abilities rather than his appearance, however, possibly
because he has always been small (growth hormone deficient now on rHGH
shots). He also has a heavy dose of ADHD and alternates between being
diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and PDD-NOS (an autistic
spectrum disorder). So any physical attractiveness he has is good.
