Actually, both Victorinox and Wenger supply knives for the Swiss
government (in equal quantities). The Swiss government realized that
if it used a sole supplier, it would be vulnerable to the whims of
that supplier (monopoly), as well as avoiding regional issues and
hoping that competition between the two companies would bring prices
down. So the government used both Victorinox and Wenger, who compete
against each other. (Technically, they're both Official Swiss Army
Knives).

In fact, I believe they're the same company now - Wenger ran into
trouble a couple of years ago, and Victorinox bought them out.
Victorinox is now officially the sole supplier of Swiss Army knives to
the Swiss government (even if they carry the Wenger brand).
