[LMB] Which Bujold for book group?

Much as I like EoA, I don't think it makes a good intro to either Sf/F or Lois for most people. 

CoC, on the otherhand is good fantasy and 'typical' Bujold.

An omnibus is OK, provided it's in paperback. If they get hooked into
reading the other book < Ivan > It's not my fault < /Ivan >.

What is the group m/f split ?  Should be able to please both.

So rather than WA or BiA SoH in CH(romance, ISBN 0671578286), Ethan of
Athos (thriller/humour) in Miles, Mystery & Mayhem 0743436180

Komarr (crime/detective) seems to be unavailable (to be omnibussed this
year in hc)

Non-Bujold  

I wanted to suggest Miller and Lee Balance of Trade (no sex, no space
battles,
stand alone)  or Local Custom (university that covers a planet) But they
seem to be out of print.
